CEC’s are mandated by the MS Department of Education for low performing schools to build broad-spectrum community support for the schools and district in implementing improvement plans.

CEC’s are a community-led group focused on improving a school or district.

The CEC works with the schools and school boards, but does not have the authority to set policy.

The CEC members are volunteers who represent the community, offer feedback and help provide additional resources to improve outcomes for learners.

CEC activities complement, rather than duplicate school or district efforts.
